Post on behalf of the Waipu Walking & Cycleway Trust.
It’s taking a lot of effort, money and generosity to establish a walking and cycle network in in the Bream Bay area. Many local people have already contributed by donating time, money and easements – and there is still a way to go. “Come on! Get it finished” say local joggers, walkers, cyclists, young people who are too young to drive, and visitors to our area!
On the plus side the Waipu Cove to Waipu Centre cycle and walkway was extended during March by a few hundred metres in the vicinity of the intersection between Cove Road and McLeans Road. Plans to complete the next stage – which would see the track extend to the Waipu cemetery – are now being firmed up, with work expected to proceed this year. If you are able to donate, or would simply like more information, please visit the website. All help offered to this important community project is much appreciated.
