What’s the sheet music like? How does it differ from piano music? Why are there three manuals (keyboards)? How do you know which one to play on? When do you put your foot on the pedal and ..which pedal?! When should you, literally, ‘pull out the stops’?
Find out the answer to all these questions this year! On 31 December 2024 – the same day as the Caledonian Highland Games in Waipu – there will be an organ demonstration at St. Peter’s Church, Nova Scotia Drive, Waipu. There will be a morning session at 10.30 am and an afternoon session at 2.30 pm.
The demonstration will take the form of an introductory talk followed by a short recital offering a chance for participants to reflect on what they have just learned while they listen.
These are FREE events, expected to take around 20 minutes, open to everyone. Simply turn up at St. Peter’s (which is opposite the Fire Station and next to the Waipu RSA & Citizen’s Club) in time for the session.
The demonstration will be given by St. Peter’s resident organist Anne Connolly-Munt.
